Flash Fiction writers Meg Pokrass and Barbara Renel launch the very first in their series of flash fiction evenings celebrating the very short story. Alongside flash fiction writer Gary Duncan they will read from their own work before introducing an open-mic and inviting the audience to share their own stories (max 250 words). And there will be a chance to win a flash fiction collection in a free draw.

Meg Pokrass:

Flash fiction author, editor and teacher originally from California and now living in Cumbria. Author of an award winning prose poetry collection, a novella and five flash fiction collections, inlcuding most recently Alligators At Night. Meg’s work has appeared in over 350 literary magazines in print and online. She currrently serves as Flash Challenge Editor at Mslexia Magazine, Festival Curator for Flash Fiction Festival, U.K. (Bristol) Co-Editor of Best Microfiction, 2019, and Founding/Managing Editor of New Flash Fiction Review. Meg teaches flash fiction workshops both online and in person.

Barbara Renel:

Flash Fiction Writer, Dancer, Teacher, Performer based in North Cumbria. Winner of a number of flash fiction competitions, her work has appeared in print and online including Noon (Arachne Press), The Dawntreader (Indigo Dreams), The Bath Flash Fiction Festival Anthology 1 (AdHoc Fiction), Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Spelk, FlashFlood Journal and Structo, A3 Review.

Gary Duncan

Gary Duncan’s stories have appeared in Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, 100 Word Story, New Flash Fiction Review, Fictive Dream, Train Lit, Gravel, and The Cabinet of Heed, among others, and are forthcoming in Unbroken Journal and Ellipsis Zine. His flash fiction collection, You’re Not Supposed to Cry, is available from Vagabond Voices.
